Wow, I sure failed blog 365!

That definitely wasn't my intent. In fact, it wasn't my intention to skip 5 days worth of posts! However, I had a headache that lasted 12 days, (I'm just getting over it now,) and it required strong pain medication to break. I didn't end up doing anything for the past few days. Not doing anything did include going to the doctor yesterday. He gave me a prescription for the pain medication, and a prescription for Relpax to take when I have the first sign of a headache. The pain medication went through but the Relpax needed a prior authorization for some strange reason.

Because I don't want to skip yet another post this month.

I did that too many times while waiting for content to import into Blogger and TypePad. However this one's going to be short because I'm still dealing with a headache that I can't get rid of and I don't have much to say. My TWBlue experiment is still going well, other than the fact that I have to use a separate system for Twitter. That should all be taken care of if any other Twitter client decides to update, or when I get my new system.

Testing tWBlue.

On my laptop anyway, because for some reason it won't run on my desktop! TWBlue is a Twitter client, in case anyone's wondering. It works really well in Windows 10, except for the fact that I haven't figured out how to set up filters yet. It didn't install a readme file, and the documentation I found is extremely outdated, I'm not even sure the client supports filtering. I've also decided that I better start getting used to Windows 10, because my next desktop will definitely be a win 10 system. Because this thing is 6 years old, and I won't be able to run 10 on it, I'm going to try to get a new computer by the end of this year. Well, preferably the closer to my birthday the better, but that's the goal.

Thursday Lister: quick takes.

Lol because I can't think of many things to put on this list, it probably won't be more than 4 or 5.
  1. I finally fixed the feeds! This took starting over with Feedpress, but now this blog has a feed, and so does the linkblog.
  2. I had to recreate the Thursday Lister blog because of the whole Google account deletion mess, it's now right here.
  3. I haven't gotten around to installing Disqus there yet, (or here for that matter,) partly because Disqus hides the code that you need for Blogger install, (or it doesn't work properly as in, they give you an old one,) and right when I was about to do this, we started having thunder storms here.
  4. I haven't done it on my other blogs yet because I'm waiting a week or 2 for feed subscribers to well ya know fall in line, before deciding what to do with my domains. After I do the actual domain pointing, I'll install disqus.
  5. This causes me to wonder how RSS readers work. I know Google reader did this, but do all the RSS readers out there catch it if your feed is being redirected? I installed the Feedpress WP plugin to redirect my feeds. RSS is a standard, so you'd think if they're doing things correctly they would, but what if they aren't doing things correctly?

Papers, papers everywhere!

Lol well not exactly papers everywhere! Although it seems like there are papers everywhere if you look in my insurance files. As of 4/1, I now have Medicare. This means I also have one of those supplemental plan thingies for my prescriptions, (managed care in my case.) I also still have insurance with my state. There's actually a name for this, we call it a "dual patient." So I call my pharmacy this morning to ask if a prescription is ready. They say something like well, we have an insurance change problem, you need to bring your new insurance information into us. OK, bringing it in is fine, no problem. For a second though, I wasn't sure which insurance card to give them. I ended up having to call my caseworker from the state and ask this question. She told me what I already knew, (and should have remembered from back in 2007 when I learned about this whole thing.) Medicare always comes first! Lol hah, I knew that, I just didn't remember it for some reason.

I might be teaching Sunday school again soon!

I had to stop teaching when I moved because no one wanted to come and pick me up where I live, that is until now. One of the bus drivers has offered to start picking me up 2-3 Sundays a month to help out with Sunday school again. The children's pastor called me this morning, while I happened to be streaming a congressional hearing about encryption and law enforcement. In blog migration news, I finally decided that maintaining 2 Blogger accounts just wasn't working, (and it actually wasn't working anymore!) In blog migration news, I finally decided that maintaining 2 Blogger accounts was getting ridiculous! It was also not working anymore. There was one thing I couldn't do in Chrome that I needed to do in IE with the other account, and that was change the template on the linkblog, (that's pretty much the only thing that didn't work.) Except for the fact that Blogger decided not to switch accounts when I logged out of one email account and into another. I had to bring that blog over to this email address. I decided that rather than change permissions etc, I'd just delete the other account altogether. So I just recreated the blog here on this account. However, I have to use the same Blogger profile.

Yeah, I really did fail at feed migration!

So it turns out I was supposed to create the feeds from my blogger blogs and redirect to WP, not WP and redirect back here. That creates feeds that don't update, (woops!) So yay, once I figure out how to do this whole feed migration thingy, maybe I'll start domain pointing. I still have to re-upload all the files that I decided not to export, we'll see how that goes. I may employ SoundUpload for that purpose. I know Blogger does host images.

I didn't fail at feed migration, (sort of.)

I started feed migration today on both blogs. In other words, the process of migrating feeds over from WP without losing subscribers. I'm using Feedpress for this, and I was able to create a feed so that I could redirect it to blogger. However, bridging to WP was a bit of a challenge. Feedpress has a plugin that will do this automatically, but when I installed it, something went wrong somewhere, and it decided not to redirect. What exactly went wrong I'm not sure, because when I did it on my linkblog everything worked fine. Although I haven't done the redirect to Blogger yet. I'm wondering if I'm actually going to be able to get away with doing it that way. Redirecting Feedpress feeds from WP to Blogger that is. because if I'm using the Feedpress plugin, it's going to want to get it's updates from that, and if I point my domains to Blogger, I still might loos some subscribers. I haven't been using a service to do this before, (although I definitely should've done it before now!)

Baking and other things.

We baked a cake today. It was one of those cake mixes you buy from the store, but it turned out perfectly! We had to go to the store first because I didn't have the stuff for the cake, so we went to Safeway, because they have chinese food that I absolutely love! Mom and dad are leaving on vacation today. They're having a house sitter stay and watch their dogs and their, (formerly my,) cat while their gone. I got a text from my grandma, (who's also on a trip,) explaining where she was and saying that her dog was having panic attacks while they were in the car. I told her to get the quiet moments soft chews I got for the cat when I needed to sleep at night. Unfortunately there isn't a Petco in the area where she is right now.

I just posted ThursdayLister.

I know I'm a bit late for this, but since I'm in the middle of a massive blog migration, I decided to do it on the ThursdayLister blog! The list is right here, and maybe I'll try to do this earlier next week so more people can participate! Lol I won't care if someone decides to make a list on Friday this week!

Computer fan hilarity.

A friend of mine had PC fan failure recently. She described it as "a loud grinding sound." Usually, when fans fail, they sound more like jet engines about to take off. OK OK, they sound like they're about to explode and I suppose you could describe that as somewhat of a grinding sound. Usually, it's the excessive and extremely loud werring sound we describe as "like a plane taking off." Or somewhat like this:
Lol that sounds like the space shuttle taking off!

I'm also testing TypePad.

Well, let's just say I'm in the process of importing posts from my WP export file to TypePad, because it decided it didn't want to import and is now going extremely slow! TypePad seems like it would work well, (and I'm pretty sure they have an existing bookmarklet. Actually I know they do, because I just installed it. I think the imports are going to take all night on this one though for some reason. I've never had a blogging platform take this long to import my content. I tried the whole import thing, but it didn't want to take my import file either, it uploaded it, but never actually finished importing it.

Testing Blogger.

I imported the contents of my linkblog into a Blogger blog today, just to see how things would work. It actually went fairly well, once I found out that Blogger doesn't take WP export files, and you have to convert them to Blogger ones. There's actually a service that does this! You can probably ignore the fact that it says it won't take files bigger than 1 MB, since it took my 8 MB linkblog file, (um... who knew text/HTML was that big!)
Blogger took all 1845 posts in the file, then said I had 1846 posts somehow, (lol!) Unlike my imports from Tumblr to and then to self-hosted WP, my posts are all dated correctly, (of course I can't say the same for the posts that were previously imported from Tumblr.) The only issue I'm having so far is well... um... one of the main reasons I'm switching away from WP is Press This doesn't support tags without having to click around. It appears Blog This doesn't exist at all, and what does exist, (a bookmarklet from another site that connects you to blog this,) doesn't support tags. I think I'm going to have to fix this by using the manual form to post links, and bookmarking it. I'm just testing this for now to see how things work. I'm not going to switch anything over until I think things are working well.

I did it!

I got the Thursday Lister blog up and running last night! It's right here. Yeah, I'm using Blogger for this. IN IE, Blogger works perfectly! I haven't used Blogger in 3 years, and the last time I left there were issues, so I'm glad everything's working now. Anyway, I have an extremely bad headache, and would like to go to bed, so I'll talk more about this tomorrow.

Thursday lister: April list updates.

Yeah, I'm actually remembering to do Thursday Lister, and list updates! I didn't intentionally wait, (but when I realized I hadn't done them yet, I decided to do them today. I managed to start one goal this month, (and start planning for another one.)

  • 25. Start at least 2 more blogs.

  • OK OK so a slight change to this one. Somehow I thought I could manage to run 6 blogs, plus the podcast I'm going to be starting, (lol!) As for the starting of the blogs, one involves starting a blog for this here Thursday lister thingy, (maybe I'll actually keep up with it better, (hah!) Lol it just occurred to me that I probably don't need WP for this, hmm, maybe I'll get this up and running soon! The other blog I'm planning to start? It involves what I'm doing right now... Lol as in sitting here blogging.
  • 58.Do a 30 day journaling challenge each year of the 3 years.
I started this one at the beginning of this month, so far, I haven't skipped an entry!

To everyone stil following me on Tumblr...

I guess it took me 2 whole years to realize maintaining 2 IFTTT accounts is... well... ridiculous! I keep an account for here, and one for my linkblog, (because IFTTT won't allow you to have multiple blogs per Tumblr channel.) I'll be stopping both IFTTT recipes a week from today. As I explained it in this post, "I'm killing my bridge to the dying Yahoo embacy that is Tumblr." This means that you'll need to subscribe to this blog's RSS feed if you want to continue seeing my posts. As I said on my linkblog, I'll probably implement an RSS to email service like, just in case I have anyone following who can't stand RSS for some reason.

Tuesday, April 5, 2016

I've been busy today!

Yes, yes I have! Someone recommended Emails to RSS to me a while ago, (last September, in fact,) and I just started using it today. The service was over quota when I first looked at it, it's using Google app engine, (which is a free service, although of course it gives you higher limits if you pay,) and I didn't want something that I would have to forward everything to by hand. Well, I just realized I could probably do everything a bit differently than intended, and not forward everything by hand. In other words, I could do a lot of email address changing, and sometimes unsubscribing and resubscribing. In places that I noticed newsletters had RSS feeds, I subscribed to those. When I say "a lot," I really mean it! I don't know how many subscriptions I had, (I didn't count,) but all I know is that it's possible I reached the quota.
On a completely unrelated note, the nurse called me this morning. She had a really bad connection because she was driving, however I was able to understand the fact that she'll be coming out on Friday to start injection training.

Monday, April 4, 2016

Deligation is happening.

There should be a nurse coming out here hopefully sometime soon to go ahead with the injection training. This means that I'll be starting growth hormone injections soon, (probably either this week or next, depending on how long the referral from the state takes.) When my doctor put me on them, she said "they work for some people." She said it was because my growth hormone level was undetectable or very low. Well, I haven't taken the stuff in 20 years, so that makes sense.
The manufacturer of the medication tried to find someone to come out and train us, but they couldn't find anyone in my area. Deligation is a procedure done by the state when a caregiver is involved.

Sunday, April 3, 2016

I had 2 drivers today.

The first one was in a play here at a local theater, so another driver brought me home. I asked him what play he was in, and he told me it was "A Few Good Men." He started describing it too me and I was like I'd probably enjoy seeing that one.
When I got home, a friend of mine was having email issues. It's been a very long time since I've worked with an email client, (about 6 years!) However, I quickly began to realize that the problem wasn't her client, it was the ISP, (she couldn't send from the web either,) and it came back up around 4:45 this afternoon.

We did the birthday party thing today.

It was actually a great day for a birthday party! Not too cold, and not too hot. Those are the days I like! I'm not a big fan of days over about 80, and obviously you wouldn't want to have a birthday party outside when it's cold and rainy. I probably didn't get there until around 1, because my dad had to pick up the pizzas at 12:15. I had a phone conversation with him about this whole thing. I called him to ask him a if I needed to bring water, and the conversation went like this. Dad: "I'll be there in a half hour." It's after 12 when I'm talking to him, (like 12:05. Me: "The thing starts at 12:30, we'll be late." Him: "Well, I have to pick up the pizzas at 12:15, and mom said it doesn't matter if we're a little late to this."
Lol, the thing is, mom isn't the biggest fan of being on time. My sister is way, way worse than her, (I'm sure she learned it from my mother, though.) Lateness is my pet peve though, and I don't like to be late to anything!

Friday, April 1, 2016

We celebrate my niece's birthday tomorrow.

She turns 4 on the 5th, but since Tomorrow's Saturday, and my sister always likes to have her parties on weekends, we're celebrating tomorrow. I got her gift earlier today. My sister didn't have many ideas, so I asked if I could get a gift card to WalMart, and she actually said that would be fine.
On a completely unrelated note, yeah I forgot to make a list yesterday, and I just realized it before I wrote this post! I need to do better with those!
