I almost decided to skip this one.

I don’t think I’ve intentionally skipped a post before, (that I remember anyway,) but I was going to skip this one. That is if I didn’t end up sleeping right through it of course, I’m still trying to catch up on sleep from last weekend. Only sleeping 5 hours Sunday night really did put me way behind. I’m glad I didn’t end up going to healing rooms this week, as I think I did literally sleep right through it. I think if I end up sleeping 7 hours tonight, (like I did last night,) then I should be all caught up by tomorrow.

Thanks again!

OK, so I promised I’d write a better list later. I’ve decided to do it now, so that I don’t forget. So first, I’ll make a list of everyone who’s donated, sorted by date, which is the way it is on the page.

  • Linda.

  • Anonymous.

  • Aunt Ginny and Uncle Tony.

  • My cousin Fred.

  • Joanne.

  • Sue.

  • Jess.

  • Kim.

I had 2 $20 donations, a $25 donation, a $15 donation, 3 $10 donations, and a $100 donation, which equals $210! That is if I’m adding things up right, which I think I am. Wow, I still can’t exactly believe it. Going into this, I wasn’t really sure how much I would raise, and I wasn’t even sure if I’d meet my goal of $150. I set it at $150 because I thought setting it any higher than that would just be setting myself up for failure. Of course I knew I wanted to surpass my 2009 fundraising level which was $174, (incidentally, also for Samaritan’s Purse,) but I wasn’t sure if this year would be that year. I also wasn’t sure if doing unofficial events like this was all that effective. Of course it helps out a very worthy charity, and it’s always a lot of fun, but I was starting to doubt the efficacy of it. This has definitely renewed my faith in the process!
Facebook really came through in the end, that was something I was also starting to doubt the efficacy of, because it seems like I had to post way too much for people to even see what I was doing. I was worried about spamming my Facebook friends by posting too much. I’d like to thank all my Facebook friends for putting up with the past month of status updates, event invetations, and lots and lots of links! By the way, I’m still very happy that everything performed the way it did, I was having problems as late as Friday, and I was definitely worried that things would go wrong Saturday, but everything worked perfectly! I think I only had to restart twice, which is like a record for the lowest number of restarts in 24 hours or something.

I think I sound sick.

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

The finishing boo!

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

The big finish!

OK, so there are a lot of people to thank, and of course I wasn’t organized enough to get that all together in the last half hour, so I’ll make better lists later, but here’s a rough list for now.

  1. Everyone who donated, you were all part of causing this to be a record-setting event for me in terms of amount raised, something I thought would never happen in an unofficial event like this!

  2. Everyone who chatted with me on Facebook, commented on statuses and/or links etc.

  3. Mark for chatting with me on live for most of the day, and answering the first set of questions in the morning, which gave me time to finish eating.

  4. I did get a few comments, and for those I’m extremely thankful!

  5. Linda for talking to me on the phone like 7 different times today, and for taking me shopping on Wednesday.

  6. Kim for sharing my links and boosting my signal on Facebook, and talking on the phone with me today.

I’m sure there are more, but like I said, that’s a rough list. To be honest, I’m not quite ready for this one to end. It’s been an amazing and inspiring 24 hours, and I’ve learned many things from it! I’m also not sure when I’ll end up going to bed, but definitely sometime in the next hour, and I have no idea how much sleep I’ll end up getting. OK, so now for the song, and this is completely unrelated, yet sort of related in a strange way. thanks so very much for all your support everyone! Barring any unforseen circumstances, I fully intend on doing this again next year! In fact, I’m already sort of making plans.

Airports, airplanes, and endings.

So the airport question got me thinking about airplanes, (of course!) Then I got to thinking about what to put in the end post, I began with a song, so I’ll end with a song. I actually wasn’t looking for a song for the ending, I was looking for videos for this one. Instead, I’ve decided I’m going to put it in the end. It’s going to make for a very strange ending though, and it just might be a bit too weird. I can’t believe I only have a half hour left!

In which I appolagize to my upstairs neighbors...

Dear neighbors, I’m sorry for the past 23 hours of cheering, loud music, late night phone calls, and keeping the TV on at all hours of the night. I can promise you this, it won’t happen tomorrow night or the next night.., or for what most likely will be a long time from now… OK?
Sincerely, your downstairs neighbor.

Questions from the big file.

Because they’re fun, and because I like answering them, and because it’s almost the end, I’m going to do another question thingy. I might put one more in, or I might not, I’m not sure yet!

  1. When was the last time you were at an airport? I had to think about that one, but I believe that was when we went on our vacation in April 2010. Not that I’ve flown since then, but I could have gone with my family to pick someone up. I don’t think I did though.

  2. Does listening to people with different accents than yours bother you? No, I actually kind of like it. Some are a bit on the interesting side though.

  3. Have you ever colored your hair? Mom used to do that for me when she did hair, but I haven’t had it done since then. It was just highlights though, not the whole thing, (that I remember.)

  4. What is your remedy to cure the hiccups? Drink water through a paper towel. Put the towel on top of the cup, and drink right through it!

Second to last boo of the day.

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Things are happening again.

  1. I’m getting comments on a Facebook status I posted a while ago.

  2. I’m getting email again after not having any for a while.

  3. Mark is awake, and probably on his way to church very soon!

  4. I turned on my AC a while ago, because it got hot in here all of a sudden.

  5. I’m getting twitter mentions, but those go in spirts.

blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

What I've been using for the past 21 hours or so.

Of course I use Blogger, but I’m not using the new interface to write my posts. I think the old interface is faster because I’ve used it way more. Besides, the new interface seems kind of unstable, and I’m not sure what would happen after this much use. I’ve been using Firefox as my primary browser throughout the event. Normally I use IE and Firefox equally, because I manage 2 blogs with them, thus I have to manage 2 gmail accounts. The twitter client I use is called the Qube, and you probably know if you’ve been listening to my boos, but my screen reader is JAWS. I’ve used IE as a secondary browser for some things, but mostly Firefox. I’ve been using the timer on my iPhone to keep me to somewhat of a posting time.
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Ding... timer's done!

It’s actually ding fries are done, and if you want to annoy your friends and have them call you weird, well maybe you should play this for them. They played this on TWiT live a long time ago.

I think I could probably qualify for some record for watching nearly 24 hours of olympics, or something. This is just a repeat, but it’s still on because I don’t really want to turn it off.
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

I still can't believe it...

That we’ve managed to raise $210 for Samaritan’s Purse in roughly 20 and a half hours! Here I thought I wouldn’t meet my goal of $150, and of course I was definitely very thankful to have reached $110! But then Linda came along!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

The longest boo I've ever done.

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Well it seems I failed my resolution.

Remember my “and now… therefore, be it resolved” post? Well, it seems that no matter what I do I can’t seem to post on time anymore. Maybe I should try setting the timer on my phone again, maybe that will work. Then again maybe I’m just going to be late all night!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Things flying through my mind at this time.

  1. twitter and tweeting. Not that I should do it again, (although I should,) just that I was reading twitter, and there aren’t that many people tweeting at this hour.

  2. Why do people scream in weightlifting competitions? Does it actually help the lift go well?

  3. People were asking me how I was going to stay awake during this thing at healing rooms last week. At the time, I couldn’t explain it other than to say I know how to stay awake. I guess I just do, but I can’t really explain how I do it.

  4. I’m now late!

blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

A few questions!

  1. Have you ever danced on a table, bar, or other platform? I danced on a chair at church once for like 5 seconds, other than that no.

  2. Did you have a lunchbox as a kid? I alternated having a lunch pale and a paper bag.

  3. Have you ever played Battleship? About 15 years ago, yeah. I haven’t played since then. I did like the game though.

  4. How many keys do you have on your keyring? I don’t have my keyring right with me, but I think it’s about 5-6 keys.

  5. How many times is it appropriate to say “What?” before you just nod and smile because you still didn’t hear or understand a word they said? No more than 3, to me if you say it more than 3 times, I think you’re trying to trick me or something.

  6. Do windy days bother you, or do you like them? I do like the wind, but I don’t like the extremely cold wind. So most windy days don’t bother me, unless it’s really, really cold out.

Coffee is on it's way.

I’ve decided to have my single cup of coffee that I bought for this exact purpose around this time. I put it in, but the posting time came too fast, so I decided to post first. Linda and I were chatting on Facebook, but she’s now going to bed. I think I’ll do some more questions for the next one! Olympic primetime is over, and I’ll be watching olympic latenight when it comes on, I’ve never really stayed up for latenight before, well on purpose anyway!

Famous last words...

My sister told me, “try not to get too loopy.” I said, “uh… why not? that’s the fun part!” Or something like that, I have to go back into my facebook messages to look. I think I might be almost there! I love recording audio posts at strange times like this! Maybe I’ll post early for once, then again maybe not, because right now, it’s a bit too early.
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Late night, almost early morning/midnight boo!

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

OK... now I'm distracted!

Just in case you thought I might have been distracted earlier, that wasn’t the least of it! In this half hour, I’ve:

  • Chatted with Linda.

  • Chatted with my sister.

  • texted mom.

  • Checked email at least twice.

  • Read facebook comments.

  • I’m still watching the olymnpics.

Oh and I still need to post on my event page, and do an audioboo!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Are you being serious right now?

That’s what I said when I called Linda to ask if her $100 donation to my FirstGiving page was actually her donating $100, and not me being delerious because of lack of sleep or something else. She said she was being serious! I was also being very serious when I didn’t exactly know what to say to her on the phone right then. I’ve never had anyone donate that much toward my blogathon efforts before…. at least that I remember. I’ve gotten a $50 donation before, but not $100!
That brings my total to $210! This causes me to surpass my biggest fundraising level, which was actually for Samaritan’s purse in 2009, and it’s more than I’ve ever raise before!

My friend couldn't get on Facebook.

I was trying to help my friend get on Facebook, then I saw she liked my status so I went to call her. First I couldn’t find my phone, then I almost dropped it yeah, it’s only 10:20! I think I’m going to try and keep the thing next to me from now on, maybe that will work better. Then again… who knows?
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Here come the questions!

So, the way I do this is to go through the file, and take questions out and paste them into another text file. I haven’t answered them yet, that will come as soon as I start putting them into the form. Anyone can answer these questions, although they won’t be blank.

  1. What do you do when you think no one is looking? Sing, dance, jump up and down, laugh out loud, cheer, a lot of things because I live alone.

  2. What activity always makes you lose track of time? Reading tweets always makes me loos track of time! Today it’s been the phone and Facebook though.

  3. Are you on a desktop computer or a laptop? Right now, a desktop. I have a laptop that’s fairly close by… it’s out of commission right now though.

  4. Do you ever take medication to help you fall asleep? Lol sometimes, like last night. It obviously didn’t work as well as it should have though!

  5. If all the world is a stage, where are the audience sitting? If all the world’s a stage, then wouldn’t the audience also be part of the stage?

  6. Hamburger buns - sesame seeds or not? Sometimes seeds and sometimes none, it just depends on what I buy at the time.

  7. How do you like your eggs? Broken, and I’m serious about that one. I like them hard, not in the least bit runny.

  8. What is your current Facebook status? I think Facebook is not happy with me for posting so many links. I’ll have to wait on the recording I just made of me cheering until it decides to be happy
    with me again.

  9. Who was the last person to call you? My friend Kim.

OK, those are the questions and my answers to them. I’m sure I’ll do those at least once more before the end, maybe 2 or 3 times.

blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

No time for questions!

OK, I take it back… It will be the next one! I guess I spent a bit to much time away from the desk, and not enough time sorting through the file. Questions in 30!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

I think I'm ready...

To answer questions in the next one! Because it sounds like fun, and because I have over 2000 of them, all collected from various places. I also think I’m starting to get to my tired point, ya know… the point before the second wind kicks in. It’s about the right time too, I think this is where I was last year when I reached this point. Maybe I’ll call my friend Linda one more time, and talk to her before her night is over, although I’m sure she’ll be staying up late too… but not as late as I am though, lol!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Three things.

  1. The pizza I had a little while ago was definitely good! I do like dominos pizza, but a lot of people don’t.

  2. I’m now watching the olympics again.

  3. I’m waiting for my friend Linda to donate, she promised she was going to do that, but she hasn’t yet.

Another donation!

OK, so I’m not quite sure if this person wants me to use their name, (and I’m not 100% sure who this person is for that matter,) but I’d like to thank them for donating $20! This brings my total up to $110! Woohoo! I’m a bit late because everything flinched, I had to give it a restart whether I wanted to or not.
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

The delivery man cometh!

OK, so they just got here with my saucage and mushroom pizza. I’m going to eat it, I’ll probably give my system a restart too, because things are slowing down a bit and it’s starting to get to the point where I have to do things a couple times for them to work. This will be the first restart of the event though, and for that, I’m extremely relieved!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

A friend called me, and we got to talking for a while. Before I realized it I was already way, way late! Yeah, I didn’t have my timer set this time because she called before I got around to setting it!

Olympic daytime is over.

Olympic primetime is on in like 2 hours. Not sure why they do daytime literally all day long, but they do. The way I remember it, daytime used to last a few hours, then primetime started later. Usually daytime lasted about 8 hours, but it’s been on for like 12 hours or something. We got to see some swimming, cycling, basketball, and volleyball. Of course I’ll get to watch olympic latenight tonight, and stay up for all of primetime!

My niece.

My Niece is almost 4 months old, (she’ll turn 4 months in August. Her name is Aniah, she was born on April 5th. I was there when she was born, but my sister wouldn’t let me be in the room with her. I got to go in right after though!I’m not sure if I have mom’s permission to post the picture she took of her in her “I love my aunty outfit,” so I’m not going to post it.
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

Why I like to wear short hair.

There’s actually a story behind this. I wanted my hair long when I was little, but mom wanted to cut it, so that it would be easier for her to take care of. So after she cut it the first few times, I just got used to it. Now mom refuses to cut my hair, so my friend does it for me. It actually needs to be cut sometime soon, probably next month. My friend isn’t a trained hairdresser, (unlike mom who is,) so it does take her longer. I think she does a pretty good job though.

Chocolate covered gummy bear clusters.

Those are part of my epic nuts.com order, along with several things. I’m actually very surprised I still have some left! I ate them all last year, like 3-4 days after I got the order. Of course I just had to order enough stuff that will last for like 2-3 months, but also in my order are:

  • Chocolate covered sinnamon bears.

  • White chocolate covered gummy bears.

  • Chocolate covered sun flower seeds.

  • chocolate covered corn nuts.

  • chothese things that aren’t really what they’re supposed to be. They’re supposed to be chocolate covered marshmallows, and they aren’t really exactly that.

  • A couple different flavors of peanuts.

  • Rock candy sticks, (not the big ones, but the little ones.)

OK, I figured while I was ordering I’d get enough for a very long time!
blogging for:Samaritan’s Purseclick to donate

If I sound distracted...

If I sound really distracted while I’m recording, I’m not. It’s because I have to get used to JAWS, (my screen reader,) reading every second in the background. This is easy to get used to at times, and hard at other times, like the last time. There were several reasons why I wanted a second take on that one, then I kind of ruined the second take. Of course I didn’t want to do a third take, because doing that would take longer, plus these things take forever to publish!

Late afternoon, early evening boo.

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Let's make a list.

  1. My headache that was on and off seems to be back with a vengence for some reason.

  2. I think I’m going to do another audioboo after I publish this post.

  3. I also think I’m going to break out the chocolate during the next 30. Oh don’t worry, I won’t eat a lot, just a little bit, like I did last year.

  4. I did do the twists after I posted that post.

  5. The song I did them to is called “clean the fan,” and it’s not all that fast, I wanted something kind of slow for some reason.

Let's do the twists!

Well, after I post this anyway. I’ve been doing the twists as a form of exercise for a while. But these aren’t just slow twists, I do them to fairly fast songs, so I have to do them pretty fast. I’ve even taken to doing them in church, although it’s hard with the limited space. Someone is probably wondering how/why I decided to post about doing the twists. Well… I typed “my brain is twisted” into Facebook chat, and that gave me the idea. Stream of consciousness writing is fun!

This one's for Siri.

Siri can definitely be hilarious sometimes! It does have a few issues though, sometimes it just doesn’t understand you no matter how you say something. Earlier, I was trying to text mom, and I was all excited while I was doing it. Siri thought I said something completely different than what I actually said. I was trying to tell mom that my uncle had donated, and it kept saying, I don’t know who mom’s uncle is!” Then there are the instances where it just won’t understand something, and you have to use a different word, which makes what you’re trying to send sound completely different than it’s supposed to. I did that with my sister once, I don’t remember what I was trying to send her.
I searched for Siri song, and this is what came up. I’ve seen this one before, but it’s still funny!

OK, this is how my mind twists things, earlier my friend Kim said she was praying for divine inspiration for me. I know exactly what she meant, and I do appreciate all the prayers, (for anything you want to pray for, no specific requests here just yet,) but when the word divinity came to my mind, I thought of the confection. This of course brought up a question, is divinity the same thing as seafoam? I don’t think I’ve ever had either that I remember. My Friend Mark is a big fan of seafoam though, but what about divinity?

I'm not sure what's going on outside.

There are people playing drums outside my complex right now, it could be occupiers, (yeah, they still do protest,) but it could also be kids playing. They don’t sound like they’re chanting or anything, so maybe we can rule out occupy protesters? I’m not exactly sure I want to step out there and find out though, it could be something really strange. This reminds me of that one street party we had right across the street from me that went on for like 12 hours, but this is a lot less wild than that was. That was really, really loud!

  • Aunt Ginny and Uncle Tony, $25.

  • My cousin Fred, $15.

  • Jess, $10.

  • Kim $20.

That’s in chronological order. Thanks so very much everyone!

A bit of a reminder.

OK, I know I probably don’t really have to do this, because I’m sure everyone knows. But I’m blogging for Samaritan’s Purse, which is the organization behind Operation Christmas child. Not only that, they like the Red Cross and others provide relief to those effected by nnatural disasters, (hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, etc.) They were in Haiti after the 2010 earthquake there, (here’s what they wrote about what they were doing there. I believe they were in Missouri after the tornados there last year. I’ve done Operation Christmas child at church several times, and really enjoyed it! So I decided to repeat my 2009 efforts and blog for them. so far, I’ve raised $90, (thanks to everyone who’s donated!) There are now a lot of them, and if I tried to list them right now I might end up being late, so I’ll do it in the next post!

Thanks Uncle Tony!

I’d like to thank my uncle Tony for donating $25, which brings my total up to… $90! Woohoo! Speaking of “woohoo!” I recorded me cheering, so that and eating lunch is why I’m late.

Facebook is...

  • Fun sometimes.

  • Distracting, but in a good way! Facebook comments are good!

  • Complex most of the time.

  • Been more effective this year than in years past.

Audioboo is fun!

Yep it is! I’m not sure why it’s so much fun for me, but it is. I know I shouldn’t do it that much, because the headset is contributing to my headache, and it gets fairly spammy. I’ll definitely be entertained by audioboo in the late hours though! Yeah, I have a headache, tradition does love me… what can I say? It’s actually not that bad this time though. I’ve had way worse headaches, and usually I can’t sit up while those are happening. I actually don’t mind it, I’m not sure how this happens, but things tend to taste a bit better when I have them sometimes.

I'm not going to healing rooms this week.

The reason why? Because it takes me about 3-4 days to recover from this here blogathon, and I tried going to the VA last year and I just don’t think I was quite ready. I was still kind of tired and weak then, yeah even 2 days after. They didn’t really care, as long as I tell them in advance that I’m not going to be there so they can make other arrangements. Of course if this were 5 years ago, I’d be recovered and ready to go in a couple days. I think I’m going to do an audioboo after I publish this post. Oh yeah, I should probably explain what healing rooms is, just in case there might be someone reading who doesn’t understand. we go and pray for people who come in for prayer. We do this both at our church, and at a chiropractic office, which is the one I go to, I’m part of the prayer team.

Reasons why I don't use a theme.

There are several reasons actually, so this will be my first list!

  1. I can never come up with one.

  2. If I do manage to come up with one, like I did in 2009 and 2010, I either can’t come up with enough posts that fit the theme, or get really, really tired of it by the end.

  3. Let’s face it, I’m not as organized as one might think I am, although if anyone thinks I’m organized in any way, well… I should probably tell them otherwise.

  4. I like being able to write about whatever comes to mind at the time. If nothing comes to mind, well I have a really big file with 2000 questions!

I took a bit of a break.

I set the timer on my phone for 20 minutes, and turned on the TV. The Olympics are on already, I didn’t realize they were going to be on this early. I guess they usually are, at first, but I never realize it until I turn on the TV and I’m like oh yeah… the olympics are on! I usually end up having a lot of windows open at this time, but I only have like 5 open right now, and that includes Facebook. I was trying to chat with a friend who happens to be at work right now, so she’s on Facebook but she’s busy! OK, it’s almost time, I better get this published.

I woke myself this morning.

Well, I used Wake myself to set a wake up call for myself. You type a message into the form, and it calls you with that message. Then you record yourself talking, and it will send you an email with the recording. I wish there was a way to share or download these, because I’d like to post it here, but there doesn’t seem to be. It’s a pretty cool idea, but I think there should be a way to share, and to record yourself when you first set a wake up call, instead of just typing in a message. Of course I was already up, but I wasn’t at my desk when the phone rang, it was loud, so I had to hurry back to get it so as to try not to wake up the neighbors.
By the way, I’ve removed the linkwithin widget, I like it but it might be obstructing navigation a bit. I’ll put it on sometime afterwards. I’ve also tweaked comment settings to only enable moderation on comments older than 14 days, so that it’s easier for people who might want to comment.

Youtube videos.

Here’s what comes up when I do a search for “the 24 hour song” and “I’m staying up all night.” Let’s see if these babies are actually going to embed.

Thanks Mark!

OK, that little break allowed me to finish eating breakfast, which was a good thing because I wasn’t sure I was going to finish there for a while. It’s only 7:30 here, and I’ve been running my AC since around 5, because I forgot to open the windows in here last night so that it would stay cool for a while. I’ll be running the AC all day most likely, and I’ll probably have to dump the bucket once about half way through the event. Mark and I have been chatting on live messenger, which we do every year. I wasn’t sure if we were going to be able to this year though, because live was acting up last weekend and making my whole system flinch… a lot. Everything seems to be working fine right now though, and hopefully it will stay that way! Maybe I’ll post a couple more Youtube videos, although I’m not quite sure which ones yet.

Yay for questions from me, the guest!

Uh-oh, it’s me, that guest poster who occasionally blogs here! Everyone run for your lives! No, not that way, over here, towards the blog! :) Here’s some questiony type thingies! Weee!:

1. Cheerios or Rice Krispies?
Rice Crispies hands down! Gotta love that snap, crackle, and pop!
2. What is something you should throw away, but just can’t? Why?
Half the stuff currently taking up too much room in my closet! Can’t throw it out though, as it technically isn’t mine!
3. What is a song on the radio that annoys you?
Do I have to pick just one? Let’s just say this: Almost anything with Autotune or those stupid “worship” songs which are nothing more than “la la la la la”. I hate what radio has become in general.
4. How close are you to your parents?
I’d say fairly close. we do have our disagreements though, which just serve to make things interesting, I guess.
5. Where is the furthest you’ve been from home?
Oo! Not sure, but I think Canada years and years ago!
6. How long can you hold your breath?
Don’t know, and I really don’t want to try.
7. If there was one other language you wish you could speak, which would it be and why?
Spanish probably, as it seems to be taking over the universe.
8. How many measuring cups do you own?
Four. Yes, four in the set.
9. What kind of car do (did) your parents drive?
It’s a Buick, and it’s pretty popular on the road these days, but I can’t spell it right now!
10. Have you ever been stung by a bee?
Yep. Once on my hand when I was little, and then I captured one and it tried to sting me, but I killed it before it could do so. That happened back in college.

And now, therefore, be it resolved...

That I’ll try to be less late this year. Lol, Resolutions are fun right? So I thought I’d write this post as part of a resolution. Anyone want to help me write some whereas clauses for this one?Anyway, I wonder how long the parade of nations was last night, I did end up going to bed at 10 like I said I would, so I missed the rest of the cerimony. Oh yeah, I got the resolutions thing from listening to so much American Council of the Blind convention coverage earlier this month. They live streamed all the general sessions, so I got to hear a lot of resolutions be voted on. The reasons for trying to be less late? Well… I don’t like being late!
Mark should be coming up next with his answers to questions I sent him.

Let's get it started in here!

Good morning everyone, and welcome to blogathon 2012! As it says in the signature, and as you are already very well aware, (I’m sure,) I’m blogging for Samaritan’sPurse this year. Samaritan’s Purse is the organization behind Operation Christmas Child, a global Christmas gift exchange for kids in need around the world, and they also do disaster relief. I’d like to thank everyone Kim, Sue, Jess, and Joanne for donating so far, and bringing my total up to $50! Let me jusst give you a fair warning, I have absolutely no plans for the 24 hours! mark will be answering questions just like he’s done the past couple years, he’ll be posting about an hour from now. Other than that, I’m winging it, just like I did last year! OK, now for the song:

PS, I’m not a fan, but thought it would make a good opening line.

I’m just testing to see if the post signatures are working, hopefully they will. I’ll know as soon as I click “publish.”

It's Friday... friday!

Well we all know the song… right? Yay for it being Friday! Of course I’m extremely excited for tomorrow, and I have a few more things to do to get ready that couldn’t be done until today, (and one that I forgot to do yesterday!) Uh… yeah, I forgot to call the person who runs the bus ministry at church to tell them I won’t be here, even after I put it on 3 different lists! Provided we have no more issues today, (and there’s been quite a few this morning!) then I should definitely have everything done by the end of today. FirstGiving went down for a while this morning! OK… so it’s an internet service and internet services go down once in a while, but I’m surprised they didn’t have better back-up procedures in place. Gmail decided to put my Facebook notifications in the spam folder, I think it did that because I was getting way too many emails from this one group so I reported it as spam. Evidently it thought all Facebook notifications were spam, and decided to put them in there. I went and retrieved them, but left the group ones in there. Oh yeah, and JAWS decided it didn’t want to install the update for some reason. I really don’t want to deal with running a repair today, so I think I’ll just wait until sometime after this weekend to do that. Yay for having a whole bunch of issues in the morning! I think most of them are taken care of for now though, and Thank God FirstGiving is back up!

Thursday, July 26, 2012

So I just talk to mom, and apparently they’re going camping this weekend. She said she just made the reservations yesterday. Of course I’m the last to know about these things, but here’s the fun part of this situation, there isn’t any way I can go on this trip! Not that I really want to go anyway, they’re going to a place where it will probably be fairly cold. It’s interesting because I’m probably the last to know, but since I obviously won’t be going, (and I’ll probably be having more fun!) then I don’t really care.

Grocery shopping, take 2!

Grocery shopping actually wwent fairly well today. I was a bit nervous about it because I wasn’t sure how my friend’s boyfriend would react to me getting certain things, as he wasn’t with us when we did this extra trip last year. I think it was almost the same amount as last year, maybe a couple dollars more, but that’s it! Now I won’t have to go shopping for a couple more weeks, because I think I got enough stuff for about that long. I didn’t have enough time to do an audioboo this morning, although I could have done it earlier, I had some other stuff to do before I left.

Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Giving up on the headset on the desk, and asking the question again.

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

Today, tomorrow, and last night.

I’m not sure what time I went to sleep last night. I did take sleeping pills eventually, because I realized I was probably too excited to sleep without them. I’ll probably be taking them from here on out, until blogathon that is. I’ve stopped taking Tylenol PM, and started taking something more natural. If it does give me headaches, they’re definitely not as bad as the one’s Tylenol PM used to give me, (I usually wake up with a headache regardless, so it’s hard to tell what causes it.) Not only that, I wake up feeling rested, and not like I’m still on sedatives.
I have a full list of things to do today, and that does include healing rooms tonight. It also included some time for question collection, which I’ve successfully completed, and I think I’m done with that! I have over 1900 questions, but I enjoy collecting them, and if you want to ask me a question, feel free, and I’ll try to answer it in one of my posts on Saturday. I also have questions ready for my friend Mark, who will be doing a guest post while I eat lunch, (although we didn’t really agree on a time yet… lol!)
Tomorrow includes an extra grocery shopping trip, because the first falls right in the middle of the week next month. My friend and her boyfriend are going to be coming early in the morning, (hopefully!) to take me shopping before the store gets really crowded, and it gets really hot. OK, I’m going to do an audioboo right after this post, I have a quick question that I thought might be fun to ask that way, (since that’s what the question’s actually about!) and I want to try something.

First official test!

(function() { var po = document.createElement("script"); po.type = "text/javascript"; po.async = true; po.src = "//d15mj6e6qmt1na.cloudfront.net/assets/embed.js"; var s = document.getElementsByTagName("script")[0]; s.parentNode.insertBefore(po, s); })();

As we enter the final countdown, a story about "final countdowns."

Final countdowns are fun right? Counting down to something you’re about to do is like one of the best things, (provided, of course, that you’re counting down to something good.) The words final countdown remind me of something. It actually reminds me of when I went bungee jumping in 2008, and everyone counting down just before I jump. There were two ladies who were extremely nervous about jumping, and they didn’t want to do it. After they counted me down, and I jumped right away, I overheard the instructor basically telling the ladies that having absolutely no hesitation after the countdown is a good thing. I’m not sure why that reminds me of that, but it does. It also reminds me of space camp, and shuttle launches. All that to say that countdowns are good, and I can’t wait until this weekend!

I didn’t do a whole lot today, I did go to church though! I did manage to catch the bus on time. I told them that I wouldn’t be there next weekend, but I think I’m going to have to call and remind them. I’d like to thank Jess for donating $10 toward my blogathon efforts!

7 days to go!

I’ll be blogging away next weekend at this time! I think I’ve gotten most things done from the big list of things I made oh… wait… I can’t remember when I made that list! Lol it doesn’t have a date on it because well… I didn’t put one there. I think I made it sometime last month, but I’m not sure when.
So far, I’ve raised $20, thanks to my friend Kim! I’m not overly worried about this, because last year I raised most of what I raised during the actual event, which is kind of a weird way of doing things. My friend Linda always says she doesn’t want to donate until the afternoon of the event because “it gives me something to look forward to.” Of course I look forward to donations any day, and I’m happy to get them whenever they come!

A list for Friday.

I’m thinking of making a list, but I think I’ll probably only come up with three things, so let me try and see how many I can come up with.

  1. I published the newsletter on time this morning! I was late sending it out last week, because I just wasn’t ready.

  2. I got my nuts.com order yesterday! I intend to make a list of what I got, but that will wait until next weekend… lol!

  3. The lady my commission councilor referred me to for a benifits analysis called me this morning. We have to do the whole sending paperwork back and forth thing, but then she’ll give me a thorough analysis of my income etc, and what I may or may not loos if I go to work.

  4. Of course I had to explain to her the whole thing about the decision I’m being asked to make, and she asked some questions about my time with the commission, (of course I had to explain to her that my case has been open for 12 years, that sometimes they’re “actively looking for a job for me,” and sometimes not,) I wish I believed in keeping secrets, because I think I might have been too transparent.

  5. Transparent as in, I just let everything out without holding anything back. Although she didn’t ask me really deep questions, and I didn’t have to say anything overly bad about the commission, (which I could have done.)

  6. I did tell her that there were very few factors convincing me to keep the case open, and she said that if she were still looking for a job she’d want them to keep her case open. OK fine, but all I’m asking you to do is give me data, not comment on whether I should or shouldn’t close the case.

The french donation.

So I learned via a tweet that Wikileaks is now taking credit card donations again, (for the time being, at least,) through a french nonprofit. here’s an article from CNET talking about this. So of course what do I do, immediately go to http://shop.wikileaks.org/donate#dccard and jump on it, before something happens to it and it gets shut down.
Today is delivery day for my order of epicness! I noticed this morning it was already here, so hopefully it will be delivered early? UPS does seem to show up at weird times here though, sometimes they’ll come at like 6 in the evening.

Wednesday, July 18, 2012

package tracking is fun!

It’s fun because you can see exactly where the the package is. Just like flight tracking is fun, because you can se the speed and altitude of the plane, and whether the flight will be on time. I wasn’t exactly sure how 3 day select was done, but I thought there might be some flying involved. There is, because the package arrived at Dallas FortWorth airport yesterday, and is now in WA. It’s scheduled to be here tomorrow, I’m not sure when though. Of course I’ll be calling UPS to ask them to deliver straight to me, because my landlord doesn’t exactly do things right away and it could end up sitting in his office for a day or 2. If I really want to get something, I have to call the company shipping it and ask them to deliver directly to me.

My friend did call me back yesterday. Of course she had to blame me for always calling her while she was in town or outside, which isn’t really my fault at all, but at least she finally called me back. Otherwise, not much is going on here today, I do have healing rooms later tonight, and I do have a bit of a headache.
On a completely unrelated note, I hit 100 posts today on my linkblog! I’ve added the RSS feed to the blog.

Monday, July 16, 2012

A couple things.

My nuts.com order of epicness has shipped! Yay for that, it should be here by Thursday! I haven’t been able to get a hold of my friend who takes me places since Saturday, and that kind of worries me, because she was in a lot of pain when we talked. She’s having some health issues right now, and they could be serious and life-threatening if she doesn’t get the care she needs. Of course she doesn’t have ensurance, so that’s kind of hard for her. If she were in the hospital, I’d think her boyfriend would be nice enough to call me, although I’m not sure. I did tell her that if she was in as much pain as I think she was in when we talked on Friday, that she definitely should go to the emergency room. I’m hoping and praying she’s OK, and that they just went out of town for the weekend or something, but usually she tells me ahead of time if they’re going somewhere.

I didn't miss the bus today!

the bus actually came on time, and I was out there at around 8:00, just to make sure I didn’t miss it. I did take 2 of the eepic nuts.com order from last year last night! I might list what I got when I actually get it. I should be getting it by Thursday, and it should ship on Monday. I used UPS 3 day select again, because the order is mostly chocolate. UPS 3 day select worked fine last year, so I’m pretty sure it will work again this year.

Saturday, July 14, 2012

I had a meeting yesterday.

So I didn’t really elaborate on why I missed about an hour and 45 minutes of yesterday’s general session, but I did say that I was meeting with my commission counselor. I was meeting with her yesterday, because she’s asking me to make a decision on whether she should close my file with the commission. My case has been opened with them for around 12 years, and it really hasn’t resulted in much. She made lists of all the pros and cons of closing my file, and she said the lists looked fairly balanced.
Of course I told her I’d have to discuss it with my family, but my answer right then was to go ahead and close the case. She’s going to send the lists to me, and see if she can look at addressing a couple of my concerns before I formally make the decision. Right now I have very few factors convincing me to keep the case open, that is unless we put a specific plan in place.
I did talk to mom about it this morning, and she brought up a couple points that I didn’t exactly think about in my effort to be done with my time with the commission.

Friday, July 13, 2012

Yeah, I managed to forget to post yesterday. I had an extremely bad headache all day, and I slept most of the day. I was going to do it after yesterday’s general session, but then I forgot. I also didn’t prepare to send the newsletter last night, so I might end up preparing tonight and sending tomorrow morning. It will be the Saturday list, instead of the Friday list!
Today’s general session was fairly long. They did elections, and voted on several resolutions. I missed about an hour and a half of it, because I was meeting with my commission councilor.

Answering a question.

How many lurkers do you think you have that read your blog, but never comment? Have you ever been successful at getting them to say hello? Do you mind the lurking? I’m not exactly sure, but last time I checked I had 20 something RSS subscribers for this blog. I don’t mind lurkers, because I’m most definitely one myself! In fact I think one of the best statistics is not how many comments you have, but how many RSS subscribers and/or followers you have. Of course comments are a very good thing! Although they don’t say anything about how many actual readers you have, because you might just have a few people commenting.

Actually that should be “conventioneering,” although they’re probably 2 different things. So every 4 years I end up watching a lot of the political conventions, (streaming most of it so as to not miss the majority of it because of aanalysis, (which is mostly the pundit’s opinion on things.) So my friend Mark, (who posts on this blog sometimes,) was talking about how he likes to listen to the American Council of the Blind national convention, which happens every year. So I decided that I’d listen to a little bit of it, well I started Sunday night, and haven’t stopped since, (except to go to healing rooms yesterday.) There are several similarities to political conventions, but there are several differences as well. They do something similar to the roll call of states, except that it’s the roll call of affiliates instead. Of course the subjects that are discussed on the floor are different than at a political convention, and it seems to be a lot less formal, but otherwise it works pretty much the same way.

Monday, July 9, 2012

I went to healing rooms today.

I switched to Tuesdays so I didn’t have to go on Mondays, but the director’s wife wants me to go on Monday’s once a month so I’m not “out of the loop.” It’s annoying though, because I’ll be going the day of the lunchon, which doesn’t get over until like 3:00. Thus the reason why I didn’t post this morning. I can’t pull the trick I was going to pull when I was just going to go to the lunchon, and eat before I go. The restaurant we go to isn’t all that great, and it’s fairly expensive, so I wanted to eat before I went if I could, then just order fries and a drink at the restaurant.

Somehow I managed to miss the bus to church!

When I originally called the people to sign up to be on the list, they said be downstairs between 8:10 and 8:20. I know not to be late, because if you don’t show up after a minute or 2, they just leave. I grabbed my stuff and left at 8:05, and was probably down there by anywhere between 8:07 and 8:09, (it takes me a minute or so to grab everything and make sure I have everything, so that I don’t run off without my keys.) As I said, I was supposed to be down there by 8:10, and I was anywhere between 1-3 minutes early. The bus never came, and I ended up waiting 20 minutes downstairs. Usually it takes a few minutes after I get down there for the bus to come, but not that long. So I ended up coming back here and calling my friend, (who was right in the middle of worship practice!) She said her husband is driving the bus second service, so she’ll try to have him pick me up. I didn’t realize it was my friend’s day to be on team, as she already was last week, and I thought it was the first and third Sunday of the month, but it’s actually pretty much whenever they need her.

Grafiti weekend.

It’s grafiti weekend here in our town. Grafiti is one of those things that if you do it a few times, you don’t really have to do it again. My sister and her boyfriend go every year though, and I listen to the cars from here because they’re really loud. My landlord lets people park in front of the building, (for a charge,) so there’s lots and lots of people down there that are more than likely wasted.
I just talk to mom and asked her how old the cars have to be to be able to drive in the cruise. She said 1972 or older, my friend thought they had to be pre-70s, but apparently they don’t. Dad used to have a 1970 corvette, and he could have entered it… that is if it ran well enough to drive, which it didn’t really.

HtML email woes.

So I went to publish the newsletter this morning, I took the time to put everything together last night so it was all ready. Once I sent it out, I got it and opened the message, and all I saw was HTML everywhere! It was weird, because this didn’t happen to me last week, but I started out using TinyLetter’s editor. All I did was put everything in a notepad file, and copy and paste the contents. I even tried changing the file from .txt to .html, but it appears that either there might be something wrong with my HTML, or it could be TinyLetter. I guess I won’t know until I get next week’s newsletter ready, there’s no fixing anything after it’s sent.

Explosions are fun!

Well, the explosion sound caused by fireworks that is… that title will probably put me on some sort of NSA list somewhere… lol! We had really, really loud fireworks here last night! Like the ones they set off at fireworks displays, and it sounded like they were right next to the building. I went to bed and managed to get to sleep within like a half hour though, which was cool because fireworks were probably still going off. I usually don’t sleep well with loud noises going on around me, but these didn’t seem to bother me. My friend Kim’s husband was supposed to set off the fireworks for their small town last night, (they live in a smaller town about 15-20 minutes away from the bigger town I live in.) Bigger as in, about 40,000 or 50,000 people.

Happy fourth of july!

Just want to wish everyone reading this a happy fourth of July! For those who might not celebrate, hope you have a good day! As I said yesterday, I have absolutely no plans. I might end up going to my parent’s house for dinner, but who knows, I guess that depends on what they’re doing. We could end up going out to dinner too, it all depends on them. Every year since 2009, I’ve been with my friend Kim, but since the holiday falls on a weird day in the middle of the week, and she has to work tomorrow, she isn’t hosting a party this year.

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Several things.

First of all, I have absolutely no plans for tomorrow! Secondly, I did a few minor blog tweaks today, I added the FirstGiving widget, took off the twitter thing that wasn’t working in IE, (for some strange reason,) and took off the blog list thingy, (that was sort of working in IE.) I tried to find a widget for the TinyLetter subscribe form, but as of yet I haven’t found one, (although they say they have one.) I’m not going to tweak everything all at once, instead, I’m going to tweak a couple things at a time so as to ensure things don’t break, because then I’d get the pleasure of going into the HTML and fixing things! I did end up having to do that with the linkblog, the labels widget ended up in the wrong place, so I went in and fixed it today.
I didn’t exactly have a ride to healing rooms today, so as I was calling to find one, I happened to call the director. He told me that we weren’t having healing rooms tonight, and he seemed surprised that no one called me. The lady that usually does the calls is on vacation this month, so that doesn’t help matters.
PS, I finally found the subscription form widget! It was behind a link I couldn’t open for a while for some reason.

Grocery shopping day.

I’ll be going grocery shopping sometime today, not sure what time yet. I managed to change my FirstGiving page so it doesn’t look so weird! Apparently I was in the wrong place when I was trying to create it, and it took someone from FirstGiving to tell me that before I realized it. I edited the announcement post with the link to the right page, but here it is, just for fun and kicks and all that! Don’t worry, I’ll be going grocery shopping twice this month, so that whatever I didn’t get this time, (and might need,) I’ll be getting it then. I’m going to try not to get a whole lot of stuff this time, except for the essentials. I also have to pick up my prescriptions and pay rent.

Blogathon 2012.

It’s blogathon time again, which is otherwise known as one of my favorite times of the year! Starting at 6 AM pacific time on Saturday, July 28th, and finishing at 6 AM on Sunday the 29th, I’ll be blogging every half hour for 24 hours to benefit Samaritan’s Purse.
You might know Samaritan’s Purse, as they are the organization behind Operation Christmas Child, which is a Christmas gift exchange for kids that don’t usually get gifts. We do this at my church every year, We fill the shoeboxes, send them to Samaritan’s Purse, and they send them to kids around the world. Samaritan’s Purse also does disaster relief, both here in the US and worldwide.
Just like last year, I’ve decided to use FirstGiving for this event. If you’d like to donate, (and I would greatly appreciate it, so much so that I’ll probably start doing the twists, and/or jumping up and down and cheering,) you can do so at this FirstGiving page. FirstGiving passes the donation directly to the charity, so I never receive any money. I do however receive a notification that someone donated, and those are the best things ever!
By the way, this was actually my post for 7/1, I just changed the date to make it stay up there for a while.
