My friend and her boyfriend came over to help decorate today. We ended up rearranging the furnature… to exactly where it was before my mom came and decided she wanted to rearrange it without asking me. This is one of those things where I like to decorate the tree, but I really don’t care if anything else gets done or whatever else gets put up. I mean if it happens I’m completely cool with that, but I basically say I’ll do the tree, and someone else can do the rest of the stuff. I’m not an interior decorator or anything, I just enjoy decorating Christmas trees. If I would have wanted everything decorated perfectly, I would have probably called and asked mom to come do it. There are reasons for not doing that though, and it would definitely be a more stressful experience! I did call her to tell her we put up the tree, and she said that we could have put it in the corner instead of my window, but none of us thought of that before we put it up, and I kind of like things the way they were, to be honest.

I just got back from having dinner with my parent’s, my sister, and her boyfriend to celebrate the fact that the doctor says she’s definitely having a girl. She doesn’t have a name picked out yet, or if she does she definitely isn’t telling us. Her doctor’s appointment was today, and before this they weren’t exactly sure, but they thought it was going to be a girl. She said she couldn’t buy stuff for the baby until she knew what it is, and now she knows. They do have a crip already though. Otherwise, not much went on here today, my friend and I are putting up my tree and decorating tomorrow.

Do you do minimal or maximum holiday decorating? Or none at all? I usually use most of what I have. My friend and I are going to do the decorating sometime this week, I’m not sure when. I don’t have to go to the VA tomorrow, they’re doing some kind of inspections in my department, my supervisor told me not to come, and I didn’t ask any questions. Today is an interesting date, a year ago today is when wikileaks started releasing 250,000 US diplomatic cables. They slowly released them over time, until August, when the releases sped up. In September, they “opened the archives,” and released all the cables.

I only have one link to post, and it’s just kind of an afterthought one. I found this yesterday, and I know I’m going to use it throughout the Christmas season. jango has a list of Christmas music streams. In the past, I’ve always tried to make my own playlists etc, but I think I’ll be using this. I did manage to go to church today. We don’t have paratransit that runs on Sundays here, so it isn’t always easy getting to church. My friend who was sick, and her husband, actually decided to go to church today.
Saturday, November 26, 2011
I’m defering weekly links until tomorrow, to see if I can find another link or 2. I have one, but I’d like to at least see if I can find one more. I’m not really sure if I’m going to church tomorrow, because my friend who usually doesn’t go anymore said she doesn’t plan on going, my other friend is sick, and the lady she told me to call is gone, (as in out of town for the holiday.) My friend, (the one who’s sick,) did say she’d call me if she felt like she was going to go.

yesterday went well, I was at my parent’s from about 12:30, until about 8:30. Mom put the turkey in at about 1, and it got done at about 5:30. We thought it would only take 4 hours, not 4 and a half, but mom realized it was a 22 pound turkey instead of 20 pounds. It definitely took it’s time getting to 180, but it did get there. I called mom earlier, and she said they went shopping today. They didn’t get up early, they never usually do.

First, I just want to wish everyone reading, (who celebrates,) a happy Thanksgiving! next, I’d like to make a list of things I’m thankful for. I’m not sure how many I’ll come up with, but I’m aiming for 13. )As in Thursday 13.)
- I’m thankful for all God’s blessings. I thank God that I have a place to live and food to eat, as well as many, many other things.
- Family and friends.
- Church family.
- My church in general.
- The fact that I have a working internet connection.
- The internet in general, in it’s relatively, (but not completely,) uncensored form.
- Everything I’ve learned over the past year.
- Everything I’ve done over the past year, even my volunteer position at the VA, which at times can include a lot of waiting.
- That my sister is having a baby, and that I’m finally able to say that publically!
- The fact that I can pay my bills.
- The ability to worship,.
- That I’m able to give a little bit to others.
When I called mom at about 10:20 this morning, she had already started cooking! I should be leaving to go over there in about an hour, maybe an hour and a half. One more thing, I looked up the lyrics of this song this morning, and I think it just might be appropriate for today.

I went to the VA this morning, and they told me I didn’t have to go in next week, because they’re doing some kind of inspections in my department. My grandma and her boyfriend are at my parent’s house for thanksgiving. I asked her when she was leaving in an email yesterday, and she said that she was leaving today. I’ve been waiting to say this next thing since Labor Day. That night, mom called and told me that my sister is pregnant, but I wasn’t allowed to tell anyone until 9/15. 9/15 has long since passed, but I called mom one day to ask if my sister was going to announce it on Facebook, and she said no she wasn’t. I was asked if I was going to, and I said no, I was asked if I tweeted about it, and until now, I hadn’t. I’ll be tweeting after I write this post. On Sunday, my uncle responded to my sister’s birthday post on Facebook with a comment. He said he hopes things are going well with her and the baby, and that they’ll be here in June. The baby is due at the end of April. Why it took an intermediary to finally say something on Facebook I’m not sure, I’m fairly sure of one thing though, most of my sister’s friends, her boyfriend’s family, and the people she works with already know. She’s about 4 months along now. I’m only writing about this now, because someone said something on Facebook. Ultimately when it comes to secrets, I believe that in all cases, transparency eventually must prevail. I’m not a fan of keeping secrets, and in fact I did disobey my mother’s instructions, but I made absolutely no promises when I was on the phone with her that night.

Today was grocery shopping day! I kind of wish we would have done it last week, when it wasn’t as crowded in the store, but for some reasons we just had to do it today. It would kind of be better if we could go shopping earlier in the month, instead of at the end, because it’s just a bit weird. We’re going to try going earlier next month, I think. I’ll be going to the VA tomorrow, otherwise not much went on here today.
Sunday, November 20, 2011
I finally finished my Christmas list today! Mom was just complaining about how it was late yesterday, and she said “you’re usually done in September, what happened?” Uh… I’m never, (and I’ve never been,) done in September! I always start the list in September, and finish in November. For some reason the past couple years I’ve always finished earlier than usual, but I used to always finish after thanksgiving or there abouts. Mom said she doesn’t know what to get us this year, and I don’t know what to get her, so I guess we’re even. I’ve been trying to get mom to make a list for years, but it never usually happens, although it did happen once either last year or the year before, (I think it was the year before.)

So on Wednesday I linked to some stuff about SOPA, otherwise known as the “stop online piracy act.” There was a lot more written than I saw that day, so here are some more sopa links for ya.
- staff.tumblr.com Tumblr did something interesting on the day the hearings were held, they redacted all posts in user dashboards to raise awareness, then asked people to call congress. I heard somewhere, (although a quick search doesn’t reveal it,) that it generated 3.6 calls per second.
- Stop SOPA, save the internet From boingboing.net
- Google Tells Congress: Financial Embargo Of WikiLeaks Shows How To Deal With Web Piracy, From Forbes.com
Also slightly unrelated, but sort of not, when President Obama was in Australia last week, wikileaks supporters protested outside parliament. This is Julian Assange’s mother speaking, and she does a very, very good job!
It’s fairly long, though, but if you have some free time at 4:30 in the morning like I did, (or any other time for that matter,) I think it’s definitely worth it.

I fell asleep and just woke up a few minutes ago. After I woke up, I realized I hadn’t written a blog post yet. I was going to do “Five question Friday,” but for some reason, and I didn’t have time to keep trying to figure out why, it wouldn’t let me select the questions to copy and paste them. I was selecting different text instead, even though it said I was selecting the question. Not a whole lot went on here today. I do wish I would have written this blog post earlier though.
Thursday, November 17, 2011
why did you start blogging in the first place? And why do you continue? I actually started blogging in 2003, but didn’t blog on my own domain until 2005. I started because when I had dialup in 2003, I used to stay up late and read blogs. I keep blogging because it’s fun.

I went to healing rooms training tonight, it’s our last one until our Christmas party on the 8th. We start our intersession in January, we intercede first, then observe, then we’re allowed to say something if we get it, then we’re allowed to pray. They have to have a recommendation from my pastor, then they have to interview me before I can start.

OK, that’s probably the most boring title you’ve ever read. I don’t usually watch house committee hearings, but these ones were on the “stop online piracy act.” I haven’t read the bill, (it’s probably really long,) but I’ve done some research on it. here’s an overview from the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Included in this legislation is the ability for credit card companies, payment processors, and advertising services, to cut off financial support to sites that rightsholders think are dedicated to infringement. This was wrongly, (and more than once,) cited as an example in the hearings, (and it’s a ridiculous example,) as “what took wikileaks out.” Last time I checked wikileaks is still up, although they do say that they’ll have to shut down by the beginning of next year if the blockage isn’t stopped. This was even cited by the only witness who appeared to be testifying in opposition to the bill, (I think she worked for Google or Youtube.) It was just a bit weird that this lady seemed to oppose this legislation, but gladly cited the fact that we were able to censor wikileaks by cutting off financial services… there’s just something a bit strange there! A couple more links:

For the past couple months, I’ve had power bills totaling $0. After last month I was like OK… that’s weird, but after this month I thought something might be up. So I emailed my power company to ask them what was happening. A couple months ago, I had a huge power bill, ($159,) I’ve never had one that big, and I’ve been paying them for 5 years now. I got a response to my question today, they read my meter incorrectly in September, causing me to have a huge bill. They credited me $105, and that’s why I’ve had free power for the past couple months. I won’t next month though, as I only have a credited balance of $10.

I had to go catch up on healing rooms training tonight. I didn’t go last week, because the person that I go with called and told me he had to go somewhere. I have to go again on Thursday, and that will be my last time. After that, we have a Christmas party on 12/8,. The people from healing rooms are going to come and pray for us. We’ll start with the steps in Januray.

It’s a quick edition of weekly links, because I only have one link.
Privacy Parrot This will read privacy polacies for you, and tell you if the site you entered says whether or not they’ll sell your information.
My grandma emailed me and asked what kind of chocolates I like, that’s a hard question to answer because I tend to be the person that will try anything once. I have certain things I like, and certain things I don’t like, but I’ll try anything if you give it to me. I might or might not like it, but I’ll definitely try at least a little of it.

I’m not skipping them, but putting them off until tomorrow. I think I have a link, and it’s quite an interesting one, but I’m not ready to post it today. I’ve had a really bad headache all day, and I’m hoping I can find another link or 2 tomorrow. Otherwise not much has gone on here, except for debate watching, which was interesting. I like presidential debates for some reason, probably because I remember watching my first one in like 1992.

Today, my friend and I went shopping. I needed to get some clothes, and a couple other items, so we went to KMart. Our WalMart is always really, really crowded, and I don’t usually like shopping there, there was hardly anyone at KMart. Every year we have a Veteran’s day parade here, the parade turns right by my building every year. I don’t even have to go down there to watch it, because it’s really, really loud. The parade started at about 11, and went until about 12:30, my friend came to get me around 1.

I was supposed to be at healing rooms training right now. The guy who’s been taking me for the last couple weeks called last night, and told me he had to go somewhere so he wasn’t going to training. I called the lady who’s house I went to to ask if she could go, and she said she couldn’t. She told me to call the couple that runs the training, and ask if there was anyone else. I called them once, but they didn’t answer, and they didn’t seem to have an answering machine. I was going to call a couple hours later, but I completely forgot! I fell asleep for a while and woke up and realized it was too late to call them again, the training was probably close to starting, so I called the lady back to tell her. I’m probably going to have to go to her house and make it up again.
Wednesday, November 9, 2011
I didn’t do a whole lot today, and I didn’t get up early like I did last week. I do have healing rooms training tomorrow night, we only have 2 weeks to go. I need to hurry and finish my Christmas list, I’m sure my grandma wants it. I don’t have a deadline, but I always feel like I do every year. My goal is always to get it done right around thanksgiving, and that’s probably what I’ll do this year. I got it done early last year, and the year before. I’m having trouble thinking of things to put on it this year, but if I don’t do it, then my family won’t know what to get me. They always say I’m hard to buy for, but um… I’m the one that makes a list every year, and noone else does… so I wonder how that could be?

When was the last time you were locked out of your house? Last year, around the time mom had her aneurisms. Since then, I’ve had my keys on a karabiner clipped to my purse, I haven’t been locked out since then.
Via that’s my answer
I went to the VA today, I did the weekly project and came home early. I had to ride around with the paratransit driver for a while, because he had to go pick up someone else.

Today we learned the verdict in the Murray trial. This morning I was watching twitter, and a headline news Anker’s timeline, so that I could find out exactly when the verdict came in. It happened around 11, and it would be read 2 hours later. The wait for a verdict is always very intense, I had a twitter search going, and tweets were coming in extremely fast. I also had the TV on, and the timeline was still open. The doctor was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter, and a sentencing date was set for 11/29/2011. The maximum sentence for involuntary manslaughter in California is 4 years, so that’s all he can get. After the verdict was read the jury left the courtroom, and the lawyers and judged discussed sentencing dates and bail. The defendant was immediately remanded into custody.

I fell asleep, just woke up a little bit ago, and realized that I needed to post. I went to church this morning with my friend, her husband ran sound during the service, so they actually had to be there early, but she came back to get me at 8:15 instead of 7. After church, my friend and I went shopping for operation Christmas child. I’ve had fun doing it in the past, but I didn’t have time to do it the last couple years. Our church does this thing, where they’ll announce it a week before the deadline for dropping off the boxes, but they didn’t do that this time.
Saturday, November 5, 2011
I only have 2 links for you, so it will also be quick.
- Letter Me later. Email yourself in the future, because it’s fun!
- SystemDetails This site identified almost everything about my system correctly.
I’ll be going to church early in the morning, but not as early as I had to go last week. I’ll be leaving here at 8:45, instead of 7:15.

What is your favorite kind of cheese? I like several kinds of cheese, cheese is my thing! Cheddar, blue, and most of the italian cheeses. I actually have a cheese that I don’t like too, that would be swis, which is just weird.
Via tha’ts my answer
I didn’t do much today. The jurry started deliberating in the murray trial this morning, but they didn’t reach a verdict. I discovered I like google translate this morning, I put english phrases into translate and had it translate them to swedish. Swedish is just wierd, and the phrases I translated were mostly against sweden. It was easy to come up with several of them.
Thursday, November 3, 2011
I had healing rooms training twice today, once to get caught up on the ones I missed, and once to actually go to the training so that I don’t get behind. The murray trial is over, the prosecution and defence delivered their closing arguments today, then the jurry got the case. The prosecutor delivered the best close I think I’ve ever seen! I’ve watched a few, and read about a lot of cases, so I’ve definitely seen a few. I missed the defence’s argument, because it was being delivered while I was at the lady’s house for training. I’m actually glad I missed it, from what I’ve seen of it, it looked bad.

"The appeal is dismissed." I was up at 2 this morning, to read these words as they were being live tweeted by reporters inside a London courtroom. Honestly, I’m not surprised, but this wasn’t the decision I hoped for. The hearing was short, about a half hour at the most. They discussed other things, like court costs and bail conditions, but they started with those 4 words. They have 14 days to decide whether to appeal to the British supreme court, and another hearing will be held in 3 weeks to decide whether the appeal is admissible. If he decides not to appeal, or it’s found not to be admissible, Assange could be extradited to sweden within 10 days of that date. I did an OK job of summarizing, but I’m going to post a couple links here, that do a better job than I.
- British Court Says WikiLeaks Founder Can Be Extradited for Questioning, from the NyTimes The one thing we shouldn’t forget, (and I’m even guilty of this sometimes,) is that official charges haven’t actually been filed, he’s wanted for questioning.
- WikiLeaks’ Julian Assange Extradition Appeal Lost, from Huffington Post.
Tuesday, November 1, 2011
I went to the VA today. They didn’t have anything extra for me to do after the weekly project, so I left early. I didn’t have to go to healing rooms training today, I’ll be going on Thursday. I’ll be getting up really early tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is the ruling in the wikileaks founder’s swedish extradition case. There were hearings last February, and they ruled that he should be extradited. There were appeal hearings in July, and this is the ruling for those. I’m going to be up by 2 for the ruling, which is supposed to take place at 9:45 AM GMT. I’m going to be going to bed in about 2 and a half hours.
