My day at the VA.

I had an extremely short day at the VA today, about a half hour at the most. I thought I had work to do from Thursday, but they didn’t leave it for me, then they said they didn’t have anything for me to do. They gave me trash to make until paratransit got there, and I asked if they would leave it for me, since I didn’t finish it. They told me that I’d just be going in once a week again, well that’s fine, I just hope they don’t change their mind again! Although this time that will be harder, because I called paratransit when I got home, and only scheduled my rides for Tuesdays, not Tuesdays and Thursdays.

I didn’t do much today, but I did send the request to cancel my server. I sent it at about 3:30, and I still haven’t received a reply. If I don’t get a reply tomorrow by the time I get back from the VA, then I think I’ll probably have to call them. They used to be pretty fast with customer service, but I guess they aren’t anymore. I almost forgot to post, that’s why I’m posting this so late! What reminded me was the question I get every day from daily diary asking me if I’ve posted today. Well I remembered that I hadn’t, so now I’m going to.

Because test runs are fun!

Last night I went to bed at about 12, (yep I said 12 AM.) I laid there for a couple hours, to try to go to sleep. I didn’t have any success whatsoever, so I decided to do one of those, “I’ll just get up and go to sleep when I get tired” things. That ended up not happening, and I ended up staying up all night. OK, that’s perfectly fine, (even when it’s not planned.) It was fun and I enjoyed it, but… um… today was my day to go to the VA! Luckily I managed to stay awake while I was there, (I actually had stuff to do this time!) I did my weekly project, and put paper in this bag to go to the shredder, (they don’t do the shredding there at the VA, another company does it.) When I came home, I immediately went to sleep for 4 hours! I’m sure I’ll sleep tonight, but if not, a Tylenol PM will speed up the process.

My domain works again.

For now it just forwards to blogspot, and it will be that way until I can get it transfered to another registrar. At that time, I’ll map it to blogger, the way bblogger likes to have it mapped. I’ll probably send the cancelation request to my host tomorrow morning, because now that my domain is separated from the server, there isn’t any reason for me to keep paying for it. I’m skipping weekly links this week, (but will try to have links ready next week.) Between this and not feeling well last week, I just don’t have any links ready. I hope to get back to doing weekly links regularly next week.

Haircuts and domain registrars.

I got my hair cut after church! After the service was over, I went to my friend’s house, and she cut my hair. It took a while, and I didn’t get back home until about 3:30. Then I came back home, and attempted to fix my broken domain, that I started breaking yesterday. I needed to separate my domain from my server, so I could cancel the account. I use GoDaddy for a registrar, and I changed my DNS settings to park my domain on their nameservers. I wanted to map it to blogger the way blogger wants you to do it, (using a subdomain,) but GoDaddy’s DNS management thingy isn’t exactly easy to figure out, (I can work with it, it just isn’t the best thing to have to work with.) So then I just decided to switch to publishing on blogspot and forward my domain there, (yeah, I know, blogger doesn’t like it, but it’s just easier.) So that’s what I was doing when I came home, but as of yet, the changes still haven’t propagated, (although they should have.) If it doesn’t work by tomorrow morning, I intend to call GoDaddy and ask them to do it for me. I’ve actually never had anything bad to say about their customer service, but the experience does leave me wanting to transfer my domain, (as soon as I can aford it, although not this coming month.)

Saturday 7 43

7 random things, as usual.

  1. Yesterday was the anniversary of my switch to blogger 2 years ago, (I think it was yesterday, anyway.) I always get it mixed up with 6/14 for some reason.

  2. I’m not even close to being ready for weekly links yet, I haven’t even done anything to find links.

  3. I’m thinking about participating in this

  4. I really need to do all the research in forwarding my domain to blogger, because my server will auto-renew on 7/2, and I’m not really looking forward to that.

  5. I’m not sure which service I’ll be going to tomorrow.

  6. I’m chatting on live with my friend Mark right now. I just managed to get live messenger up and working after like 3 months of not using it.

  7. My favorite number happens to be 43, and that’s how many times I’ve written and posted Saturday 7!

It's almost the weekend.

I don’t have any plans for the weekend, (unlike last weekend!) Well, I guess I take that back, I should probably work on forwarding my domain, so that I don’t have to pay $59 for my server at the beginning of the month. I won’t cancil the server until I get everything forwarded though, because that would be bad, and result in my site going down, which is exactly what I want to avoid. Other than that, I’m not really doing anything, (except for church on Sunday.) I think I’m pretty much over this cold thing, I still have a bit of congestion, and still a small headache, but that’s it.

Thursday 2 questions.

Yeah, I don’t usually do questions right in a row, but I’m still a bit sick, so this is what I’m going to do. I do feel better than I yesterday though, so I’m hoping that by tomorrow, everything will be fine.
1) How many browsers do you installed on your computer? I have 3, because I installed Google Chrome on monday night, (I think.) I have Google Chrome, Firefox, and IE, (I don’t use all 3 of them of course.)

2) Do you think Blogger has improved since their last crash, or is it getting more frustrating for us?
Blogger is fine, since they were doing scheduled maintenance, then it turned into an unscheduled crash, there wasn’t anything to improve there. I do have one issue with following, I can’t use the navbar to follow anyone anymore, (I have to use the followers widget,) and another issue with removing page elements that well… just won’t remove themselves when they’re supposed to. The following issue is probably blogger, but the page element issue could be something I’m doing wrong.

A question.

Pancakes or french toast? French toast, because I’m just not a pancakes kind of person, I mean I’ll eat them once in a while, (which is code for hardly ever.) I do love french toast though!
Via that’s my answer
I haven’t felt that well for the past couple days, I woke up with a soar throat yesterday morning, and it got worse this morning. I’m not going to the VA tomorrow, because they have some sort of training, and because I feel like I could probably sleep all day, I’m kind of glad I’m not going.

My big Google Chrome experiment.

Well, let’s see if this works. I had issues with the form last night when I was posting weekly links, so I’m not sure if it’s going to work tonight. Forms seem to be a bit of an issue for me, (I can’t seem to edit what I just wrote.) Certain sites render very strangely! Facebook, for instance, I can’t see the entire mobile page, and the regular site well… it just looks like it’s broken, or something! Google Reader is another site that doesn’t work, (I can’t actually see the feed items.) So there are issues with it. But I’m having fun testing it!

Weekly links for 6/20

I’m posting these links using Google Chrome. It seems to work wwell so far, although there are a few minor issues. I did find 4 links this week, although one was the link I had for last week.

  • account killer Instructions on how to delete a lot of online accounts.

  • FeedHint Make your own personal Hacker News feed. I like Hacker News, it’s a cool site, and with FeedHint, you can make a feed of stories by topic.

  • Vend A Snack Says it will deliver 24 snacks to your door. Snack and munch seems similar, and seems to have a larger selection.

  • Encrypt text before sending it.

I’m glad I skipped Saturday 7 yesterday, because I didn’t get home until about 11:15 last night! When I got home, I went straight to bed without doing much else. The potluck was fun, it was a pretty nice day, and (it didn’t rain like they said it was supposed to, well except for a bit of sprinkling.) It wasn’t hot, but it was definitely not cold, I wore shorts and I was OK the entire time, except for late last night as we were driving home. We had lots of food at the park, and a few hours later, my friend and members of her husband’s family went to pizza with us. Then we stopped at a couple more houses to visit more of my friend’s family before we came home. It was one of those long, (but fun,) days!

Before I leave...

So I’m obviously skipping Saturday 7 today, because I’m not sure when I’m coming back or if I would even want, (or remember,) to do it when I come back. I’ll be leaving for the potluck in about 45 minutes, and I’m not sure what time I’ll be back. Last night we went out to dinner for my sister’s birthday, I think she had fun, (well I hope so, anyway!) Well, not much else to say before I go, and I probably should well, um… get ready, (although that should only take about 15 minutes.)

Friday, June 17, 2011

Today's my sister's birthday! And other stuff.

First of all, I’d like to wish my sister a happy birthday! She doesn’t read the blog, but I have this tradition, and its fun! Second of all, I went to share my testimony today! I think it was received well, and I had fun! I let the ladies ask me questions afterwards, and I actually got some interesting questions. One lady asked if I don’t like to be treated differently, and I said that I didn’t, and I use pre-boarding flights as an example of that. I don’t like to pre-board, unless I’m alone, for its necessary for some other reason, (which it usually isn’t.) Another lady asked if being blind has its advantages, (I’ve never been asked that question before,) and my reply to that was that I don’t see the bad things. I can’t remember the rest of the questions, but they weren’t the common questions, the ones I get pretty much everywhere I go. This was the first time I’ve ever shared my testimony, so it was something new for me.

Thursday 2 questions.

1) What is the one best option on Blogger that you love? Don’t make me pick just 1! I have a lot, so I’ll make a list.

  1. I love that blogger is so flexible, you can basically put anything on the blog without blogger caring, (if you do it right, and you don’t break the widgets.)
  2. I really like the page elements!

  3. The google reader integration with blogs I’m following.

OK, that’s 3.
2) I have on occasion received newsletter from site that I followed back, and I don’t like to have more to read. What is your opinion on this subject? I’m the opposit, I like to have lots and lots of stuff to read! I use RSS so that I can read lots of feeds.

Via Thursday 2 questions
I did go to the VA today, and put more labels on more envelopes, I’ll probably finish that on Tuesday… maybe, (there’s a lot of envelopes there!)

Wednesday, June 15, 2011

I'm going to cheat.

I decided I’d do something a little different, and post a couple quizzes! Yep this will count for blog 365, because I make the rules! So, here we go, in no particular order.

You Like Change

You are easygoing and carefree. You like to hang loose whenever possible.

You don’t seek out change, but you don’t necessarily avoid it either. If it comes, it comes.

You are a big believer in letting go of control. You know that some things are simply up to fate.

You try to be good with whatever happens in life. You find your contentment from within.

I do like change, I try to be as flexible as I can, but I’m also a “stick to the plan,” and “do what I say I’m going to do” type of person.

You Are Somewhat Self Conscious

You look inward without being self absorbed about it. You believe it’s important to know yourself.

You are positive, optimistic, and downright sanguine. You see the world through rose colored glasses.

You can dig deep. You are amazingly resourceful and resilient when you need to be.

Like everyone else, you have your fair share of self-doubts. You try to rise above questioning yourself too much.

There are certain things that I’m more self conscious about than others, appearance isn’t usually one of them, (unless it’s a special ocasion.) I rarely dress up, and I always wear stuff that I’d wear to the store, (I’ve only gone to the store in pajama-like clothes once or twice.)

Your Wedding Color Should Be Blue

You are super duper sensitive and find it hard to get out of a sad mood.

You are in touch with your six sense. If you have a strong feeling about someone or something, you listen to it.

You’re the type of person who still believes in changing the world. You passionately believe that things should be better.

You are compelled to help everyone around you. You are naturally selfless.

Weddings are fun, and I like blue, (because that’s the color of the sky.)
OK, tthat’s it for now.

Last night and today.

If there were something to have a test run for, (and there actually might be,) last night would have been one! I went to bed at around 9:15, woke up at about 1:30, and didn’t go back to sleep until around 4. Had I not gone back to sleep, I would have been up for like 20 hours. I went to sleep on the coutch, of all places, (I’ve done that once before, instead of going back to bed.) At the VA, I did my weekly project, and then put labels on envelopes, yep I said put labels on envelopes! It was sort of interesting, in a “oh, something different to do” kind of way.

Skipping weekly links this week.

I’ve actually thought of taking a break from weekly links for a while, but I’ll see what I find after this week. I’m not finding anything that’s worthy of a link lately, (not that there aren’t worthy sites,) I guess I just need to lower my standards just a bit. If the post was called “weekly link,” i’d be fine, because again I just have one single link.

Sunday, June 12, 2011

A question.

When was the last time you pulled an all-nighter? Last summer, during blogathon! Oh, and I almost stayed up all night on new years eve, just for fun, but I knew I wouldn’t be able to do that and be up to watch the parade the next day. unfortunately, I’m not sure I’ll have the pleasure of doing blogathon again next month, unless I decide to do it on my own, (and I still haven’t decided whether or not I’m going to do that yet.) Via that’s my answer
On a completely unrelated nnote, I just got done watching the CNN documentary, and I think it was just a bit better than frontline. One thing it definitely had going for it, is that at least CNN has the ability to run their documentaries on time, and doesn’t play with the timezone conversions!

Saturday 7 42.

I thought this month was the month I started Saturday 7 last year, turns out it was last month! Since I’m too lazy to sort through all the links and find 7 favorite Saturday 7 posts, I’m just going to do a list of random things this week. I’m not sure when I’ll get around to doing that, (next weekend, I have that potluck to go to,) so I’ll probably be writing a quick post before I leave. So, 7 random things.

  1. I’m still not sure if, (or when,) I’m going to church tomorrow.

  2. I’m officially scheduled to share my testimony next Friday.

  3. Next Friday is also my sister’s birthday!

  4. The day after that is the reception for my friend’s daughter’s wedding, she wasn’t sure if we’d have to stay the night or not, (her dad wanted to have her there for father’s day,) but she doesn’t plan on staying.

  5. I wish I could take a trip to the candy store while I’m down there, but I don’t think that will happen.

  6. I’m not looking forward to this CNN documentary thingy tomorrow night.

  7. I wish I could get a haircut before I leave for the day next weekend.

Friday, June 10, 2011

I finally finished my testimony!

For the past couple weeks, I’ve been working on writing my testimony, so that I could share it at my friend’s new job. She works with the women’s mission here, and she leads the women in bible study and worship. I think I’ll be going next Friday, but I’m not sure. There’s been some back-and-forth as to the actual delivery of the testimony. She said she could interview me, (in the hopes that it would actually be able to get done next week,) or I could deliver it the way I deliver all my speeches, by recitation. I think I’ve decided to just let her interview me, although the problem is that I just got finished writing a 1500 word speech, so that might not be the best way. If I actually go next Friday, then the next day I’ll be going with her to a potluck to celebrate her daughter’s wedding. It’s in a city about an hour and a half away from here, (it’s at a park there.)

Thursday, June 9, 2011

Today at the VA, I finished making trash. After that, I stuffed envelopes. No I didn’t lick them, I used a wet napkin to seal them. Just as I was about to leave, we learned that one of the ladies who works there has a daughter going into the peace corps. She was doing a happy dance, I thought happy dance was jusst one of those internet things. I’ve actually never heard of anyone doing a happy dance before, well other than me sometimes. I just stood up and did the twists right there at the VA! Right after that, paratransit came, and it was time to leave. I was just now looking at dad’s father’s day gift, trying to figure out which one to get him. I guess I have to keep a secret, but in the interest of full disclosure… oh wait, that’s highly classified information!

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

A question and the answer.

How long do you wait before you make an appointment for a haircut? Do you wait until it’s too late and your hair is a complete mess,or do you schedule your appointments way ahead of time? Well, I haven’t had a haircut since January. My mom used to be a hairdresser, yet she absolutely refuses to cut my hair! My friend offered to do it for free, but she just hasn’t gotten around to it yet. My hair is startting to get too long. I don’t like my hair long at all, so it’s probably time for a haircut!
Via that’s my answer
I guess me and Wednesday night church services just aren’t supposed to get along. I was going to try going again tonight, but yeah I’m still here, writing this post.

Tuesday, June 7, 2011

The extremely short edition of weekly links!

Yep, I said extremely short, because I didn’t really find anything worthy of linking to this week that didn’t need a lot of testing first. So, I have 1 link, (I’ve already tested this one!) I’ve actually been sitting on this for a while now, wondering if I should link to it, because well… twitter search isn’t that cool, but here it is.
twubs It’s twitter search, but it also pulls in external things like pictures. It’s a realtime stream, but if you search for something that doesn’t get updated very often like I did, well then that part won’t work, will it? I actually like doing twitter search on a webpage for a change, instead of within a client, just for something different to do!

Monday, June 6, 2011

So I’m not posting weekly links until tomorrow. I could have posted them on Wednesday, but I’m making a compromise. Next week, I’ll post them on Monday again, so that I’m back on schedule. I’m also going into the VA tomorrow, to do my weekly project. We’ll see what happens with the call list that never came. I’m not sure if it will be there tomorrow, or if I’ll be leaving early again. So, the day will probably involve some waiting, I’m sure, should be fun! Just how much waiting, I’ll find out when I get there.

Sunday, June 5, 2011

This morning.

I got up an hour later than I wanted to get up this morning, 6 instead of 5. I still managed to make it to church on time though. My friend and I sat through the worship practice, (she wasn’t on the team this time,) while her husband ran sound. I actually like being there for practice, although I’m usually not ready that early on a Sunday, (unless I absolutely have to be.) The good thing is that I know all the songs we’re singing, before we start singing them! I think I’m going to try going Wednesday night again, (if I remember to call and remind her, like I forgot last week.) I guess last Wednesday, someone forgot the dessert they were supposed to bring for worship plus, so they worshiped for 20 minutes, and then left. Worship plus is fun, because we worship, then eat, then the service is over. They didn’t say what it would be this coming week, so it will be a surprise.

Saturday, June 4, 2011

Saturday 7 41.

I was actually going to skip this today, but for some reason I decided not to. If I can come up with 7 things, then I’ll publish it.
7 random things.

  1. I’m going to church at 7:30 tomorrow morning, I’m going with the person who I went with last week, because my friend who I usually go with has decided not to go to church.

  2. I might have to stay at church until 1:00, because she has to stay for both services. Her husband runs sound at church, and that’s what he’s doing tomorrow.

  3. I’m still a bit soar from being adjusted yesterday, it should go away by tomorrow, hopefully!

  4. I need to remove the IComLeavWe widget, but I broke it last time, so I kind of don’t want to do that, but I need to, so I will.

  5. I bought strawberries at the grocery store yesterday! I love strawberries!

  6. I also bought grapes.

  7. I think next month, I’ll probably buy some cherries, and freze them, because frozen cherries are good, of course! I think they come in season next month, at least I think so, anyway.

Friday, June 3, 2011

A question.

What time do you usually wake up at? I usually wake up between 4 and 6, sometimes I’ll wake up a little later than that, if I go to bed late and I’m really tired.
Via that’s my answer
I did go grocery shopping, pay my rent, and went to the chiropractor this morning! It was quite an eventful morning, because we had to do it in a span of about 2 and a half hours. We got to the Chiropractor’s office a little late! I also took my friend in the elivator here for the first time, (we have one of those really, really old elivators that’s a cage thingy.) She didn’t really like it because she’s afraid of heights.

Thursday, June 2, 2011

Today, tomorrow, and 6 months ago.

I did go to the VA today, I ended up waiting an hour and 10 minutes for a call list that never came. The lady who it was sent to couldn’t open it, so I was waiting for someone else to send the list to me. My supervisor ended up calling paratransit, I asked her if she wanted me to, but she said she could and she did. I made more trash while I waited for paratransit to come, then I left, obviously! Tomorrow is grocery shopping, rent paying, and chiropractor day for me, should be fun! My friend is coming early in the morning to go grocery shopping, so that we can get it done before we go to the chiropractor, so she can go to work afterwards. It’s been 6 months ago yesterday that I started blog 365, and I think I’ve only missed like 5 posts! I had one incident with blogger, in which I rote my post via email, and it published it when it came back up, and one incident in which I had an extremely bad week!I skipped one on purpose once, and I forgot a couple.

Wednesday, June 1, 2011

Weekly links for 6/1

OK, I have to post this before it gets any further into the week, and I actually have to change the days I post weekly links on. I still only have 3 links today, and one youtube link, which I don’t normally do but it’s funny, so I’m going to do it anyway! Here are the links:

  • how long have you been on twitter? It tells you the exact number of days you’ve been on twitter, and the date you signed up. I thought I might have linked to this before, but searches have told me otherwise.

  • what happened in my birth year? Tells you lots of different things that happened the year you were born.

  • more of fit Website similarity search engine, put in an URL, and it gives you 10 sites that are like that site.

OK, ghere’s an extra one for ya: tweeting on a jet plane. So in 2009, there was this northwest airlines incident where the pilots missed the airport by quite a major distance, (I can’t remember how many miles it was, but it was a lot.) It turns out, the pilots were on their laptops, looking at schedules for Northwest’s merger with Delta, which was pending at the time. This song is dedicated to that incident.
